DPSCD to host an evening of fun at Drew Farm with Starry Nights

Detroit Public Schools Community District’s Office of School Nutrition to Host ‘Starry Nights’ Series

WHAT:           Detroit Public Schools Community District’s (DPSCD) Office of School Nutrition (OSN) and its Detroit School Garden Collaborative (DSGC) will host three monthly ‘Starry Night’ series beginning in January.

Each event will feature a nature walk on the grounds of Drew Farm, cooking demos, and an opportunity for attendees to make their own bird feeders.  Healthy snacks will also be provided.

“This is another opportunity to open our doors to students, families and the community to experience the farm from a different perspective.  Our high tunnels produce crops almost year-round and by allowing our guests to tour them, we hope they gain insight to some of the amazing things available through urban agriculture,” stated DSCG program manager, Monica DeGarmo.

Cost is $10 per family of five or $3 per person. Registration is required.  Please call 313.651.3457 or email garden.program@detroitk12.org to reserve a spot.

WHEN:           Friday, January 27, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Friday, February 24, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Friday, March 24, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
