Executive Deputy Chief Craig W. Schwartz, a former DPS student, has over 31 years of law enforcement experience; he has previously served in the Detroit Police Department, where he served in all ranks from Police Officer to Deputy Chief and commanded the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Homeland Security Bureau, Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section, and the Headquarters Surveillance Unit. E.D.C. Schwartz retired from the Detroit Police Department in 2007 and subsequently established the Huron Potawatomi Police Department, the first police agency for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi in Athens, Michigan, providing police services to the Tribe, as well as to the Village of Athens. In addition, he has served with the Plymouth and the Grosse Pointe Park Police Departments. E.D.C. Schwartz is a 2003 graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy and came to the DPS-Police in February 2010.
